Creating patterns and colour schemes is a major part of designing textiles and I relish the infinite ways in which ideas can be expressed through pattern and colour. I sketch ideas, then decide on scale and hone my sketches into stylised patterns that convey themes as disparate as an undersea world in motion, a verse of poetry, a historical character or the intricate details of a tiny insect.
